Our secind urgent appeal for your help was called for the people of Turkey & Syria and with open hands you supported us and the people with your great genourousity. As many of you know Kahramanmaras earthquake has devastated the region of Turkey/Syria. The confirmed death toll reached more than 50,000. To put things into context, this surpassed the total from Japan’s Fukushima disaster in 2011 which killed more than 18,400 people and yet the death toll tragically continues to rise. People’s homes have been put to rubble and others have had homes damaged to the extent they are nolonger safe and unoccupiable.
They have now completed hand delivering aid to the locals and relief teams near to the epicentre of the disaster.
One of our volunteers YM said ” Im Still trying to process the devastating effects we saw in the few days we were there! Not only homes that had been effected, but people’s life shattered. On one hand you had the earthquake casualties and on the other the Syrian refugees that Turkiye have given respite too! What I did see was resilience and acceptance of the decree of the Almighty, this is what a I call faith and Tawakul! Regardless of your creed, colour or race it is Humanity at its best! The coming together to help the needy, with the thought that this could have been any of us residing at the back of our minds… One of the things we have come back is with, we need to continue.”
